Hi, I’m Jason Everett.
I’m a follower of Jesus, a lifelong learner, and someone who cares deeply about growth spiritually, personally, and professionally. I’m married to Vickie, an incredible partner whose strength and willingness to grow continues to challenge and inspire me. We have a daughter who lives in Kansas and we also have a son, daughter-in-law, and grandbaby that keeps us on our toes!
At my core, I’m an apprentice of Jesus. My life is oriented around three simple movements taken from John Mark Comer:
Be with Jesus.
Become like Jesus.
Do what Jesus did.
These movements shape everything from my faith practices, to the way I serve schools across Nebraska, to the conversations I have with friends, colleagues, and strangers.
My hope is that this site becomes a place where:
The Gospel is seen as beautiful and compelling
Ordinary people find courage to take one next step with Jesus
Faith is honest, thoughtful, relational, and Spirit-led
The Kingdom of God feels near, because it is
Ultimately, I want my life... my work, my writing, and my relationships, to help build God’s Kingdom one seed, one person, one moment at a time. If you’re reading this, I’m grateful you’re here. Let’s walk this journey of apprenticeship to Jesus together.
Jason and Vickie
Faith is the center of my life. Not a hobby. Not a set of rules. A relationship with the living God.
I resonate deeply with the teachings of John Mark Comer, Tim Mackie, Tim Keller, the Ignatian tradition including the Examen, surrender, attentiveness, and imaginative prayer, as well as many other influences.
My spiritual rhythms are rooted in:
Scripture (Main translations: NIV, NLT)
Silence and stillness
Gratitude
Confession
Community
Listening for the voice and prompting of the Holy Spirit
Daily realignment of heart, mind, body, and soul
I believe the Bible is not a rulebook. It’s a living, breathing invitation to relationship.
I feel my calling is to help others know Jesus, walk with Him intentionally, and live with humility, wisdom, and love.
Outdoor adventures: biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, disc golf
Woodworking, yard work, my tractor, and anything hands-on
Reading: historical fiction, spiritual formation, theology
Music, playing beginner guitar, and creating space for worship
Good food, family, and small groups
Encouraging people, asking deeper questions, and helping others feel seen
I use my blog to share what God is teaching me through prayers, devotionals, reflections, and insights shaped by Scripture, the Ignatian exercises, spiritual formation, and everyday life.
I’m exploring what it means to develop and maintain:
A personal Creed
A Statement of Faith rooted in the Gospel story
A Rule of Life that helps me live this out each day
Everett Acres is part of how my faith is being lived out on the ground—quite literally.
This land is a gift God has entrusted to us, and we are learning what it means to steward it with care, patience, and humility. At its heart, Everett Acres is about honoring God through creation: tending what He has made, cultivating beauty, and creating space for rest, joy, and connection.
Right now, Everett Acres is very much in a season of prayer and preparation. We’re cleaning up, listening, dreaming, and discerning—asking God what this land is meant to become, not just for us, but for others. Gardens, produce, flowers, gatherings, and shared experiences are beginning points, but we’re holding the vision with open hands, trusting God to shape it in His time.
Our hope is that Everett Acres becomes a place where people can slow down, breathe deeply, and encounter God through His creation—whether that’s working the soil, enjoying the harvest, sharing a meal, or simply being present. It’s not about productivity or outcomes, but about faithfulness, hospitality, and care.
Like much of my journey, Everett Acres is less about having a finished plan and more about learning to walk attentively with God—one season, one step, one seed at a time.
In my "day job," I serve as a Digital Learning Coordinator with ESU 10, where we support 33 public school districts across central Nebraska. My ESU 10 hats consist of:
Distance Learning
Educational Technology
Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Digital Accessibility
STEM/STEAM Initiatives
Supporting a network of school librarians and computer science teachers
I love empowering teachers, designing tools and training that make learning more accessible, and walking alongside schools as they navigate change. Some of the projects I lead include:
Developing AI tools to align lessons with UDL and Nebraska standards
Guiding schools through the new digital accessibility rule/law through the ADA
Creating engaging professional learning experiences
Helping teachers explore STEM, CS playgrounds, and hands-on learning
Encouraging educators to think deeply about purpose, clarity, and meaningful impact
I’m analytical and strategic by nature, an INTJ with strengths in Ideation, Connectedness, Strategic, Learner, and Intellection. But I’ve learned that analysis alone isn’t enough. Love, presence, vulnerability, and listening are core to any relational job.
