“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and all the people.” Luke 2:52
This space exists as a place of formation, not performance. A place to notice growth rather than force it. A place rooted in the simple but profound truth of Immanuel: God with us.
Luke 2:52 offers a picture of a whole, integrated life. Jesus did not grow in one area at the expense of another. He grew with God, in ordinary days, over time, mentally, physically, spiritually, and relationally. That vision shapes everything you’ll find here.
This site is shaped around four interconnected dimensions of formation, drawn from Luke 2:52 and lived out through everyday rhythms:
Growth of the mind is not just the accumulation of knowledge, but learning to see clearly and discern faithfully. This includes wrestling with Scripture, theology, questions, learning, and curiosity. Wisdom here is not certainty, it is attentiveness to what God is teaching in real life.
Faith is embodied. This space honors the physical life - work, rest, health, limits, and presence. Whether through movement, labor, creation, or caring for the body as a temple, growth happens when faith is lived with skin on.
At the center is relationship with God - being with Jesus, becoming like Him, and going out and doing what He did. This is apprenticeship, not achievement. Prayer, Scripture, silence, surrender, and trust shape the soul over time not through striving, but through abiding.
Spiritual formation is incomplete without love. This space reflects on relationships, marriage, community, listening, vulnerability, and the slow work of loving others well. Growth here often looks like presence rather than fixing.
The thread that holds all of this together is Immanuel - God with us.
This is not a space for self-improvement, religious productivity, or polished answers. It is a place to practice awareness of God’s nearness in ordinary moments... in work and rest, certainty and doubt, clarity and waiting.
Growth happens not because we have everything figured out, but because God is present.
This site is both a personal journal and a shared table... a place to reflect honestly on life with God and invite others into the conversation. Some places may feel unfinished. Some questions may remain open. That is intentional. Formation is slow, relational, and often hidden.
If you find yourself here longing for:
A faith rooted in relationship, not rules
Growth without hurry
A God who walks with you, not just instructs you
You are welcome here. May this space remind us that real growth happens the same way it did for Jesus, with God, over time, in the middle of real life.
This site is part of a longer story.
Nearly fifteen years ago, I began sharing my faith journey at journey.jeverett.org. That space marked an important season of awakening and discovery... beginning with my conversion and my earliest “small steps” toward understanding who Jesus is. Much of that journey focused on learning, resources, books, sermons, and tools that helped me make sense of faith and Scripture. It was a season of foundation-laying, curiosity, and growth.
Over time, something began to shift.
While resources and knowledge remain valuable, I sensed a deeper invitation from God... an invitation not just to know about Jesus, but to truly know Him. Not just to collect insights, but to cultivate relationship. Not just to learn the way of Christ, but to live it from the inside out.
This Good News site reflects that next step.
This site is less about gathering information and more about living from the center of the Gospel. It is shaped by a desire for deep relationship with God, attentive presence, sustainable rhythms, and an apprenticeship to Jesus marked by trust, transformation, and love. It’s a space for prayer, reflection, formation, and the ongoing work of becoming who God is forming me to be.
In many ways, this site doesn’t replace the journey, it grows out of it.
The journey was about learning the path.
The Good News is about walking it with Jesus.
